Back to the future

I bet there was a time when Apollo 2000 sounded very futuristic. Perfect place for your electrical gadgets. Now though it makes me think twin tub washers, mangles, 8-tracks and vcr’s. Time to be re-named?

Coming up – HOMEFRONT on ITV

Wow, ages since I’ve updated – not because I’ve been doing nothing, I’ve been so busy!

Had a wonderful summer holidays with the kids, we went to the local swimming pool on a regular basis, they loved it, they’re all good swimmers now and it’s doing me good as well, so win-win!

The acting front has been quiet for me. The Olympics seemed to shut everything down for a while. I had a few auditions I didn’t get but I was lucky enough to land a small role in two episodes of HOMEFRONT, a new drama series for ITV. I don’t have definite air-dates yet, but it’s being advertised in the ITV drama ads and should air in October I think. I have a small role in episodes 1 & 4.

I’m also eagerly awaiting the release of THE ZOMBIE KING. I went in to do some ADR a few weeks back and it looks – and sounds – amazing. Fingers are crossed it will open some new doors for me. Zombie King Official Site

The Zombie King is wrapped!

IMG_0290I’ve just completed filming one of the lead roles in The Zombie King!

We had an amazing time, shooting for 3 weeks in Somerset, in and around Shepton Mallet and Wells. It was fast and furious, wet and cold but the cast and crew were incredible and we had a great time.

The Zombie King will hit your screens in 2012, so keep a look out for it!

David McClelland, Senior 1927-2010

Christmas and New Year were not happy here, my Dad passed away on Dec 31st.

He was much loved and is much missed every day. He’s left a huge hole in our lives, will never be forgotten.Dad8x10

David (Dave) McClelland
1927-2010

Dave was born April 4th, 1927 in Sheffield. His Mother died when he was young – and in the war years too – so his grandmother and aunts saw to his well being.

When he was 18 he was conscripted to the army, The York and Lancaster Regiment and the London Irish Rifles, serving most of his time in Italy, some of it guarding the British Embassy.

When he was demobbed, he found work in the office of a large steel producer in Sheffield. It was there that he met his future wife June in 1949 and they married in 1952.

They had two sons, David (1958) and John (1962) and lived in the village of Stannington, outside Sheffield. Dave had by then realised he enjoyed a life in Sales, managing furniture shops and travelling for Tri-ang Toys, among others.

In 1987, after 35 years in the same house, the family moved to Canada, to start a new life in Nova Scotia. The change was tough at first but they soon adjusted and made many new friends.

In 2006 June and Dave moved back to the UK and settled in Poulton-le-Fylde. Dave was in poor health over the last two years, but enjoyed visits from carers and district nurses who enabled him to stay at home.

Dave passed away on December 31st after a short stay in hospital. He leaves his widow June, sons David and John, their partners Rebecca and Angela and grandchildren Modena, Benjamin, Sophie and Joseph.

Everything But the Ball

It’s getting closer…. The fab TV pilot I did a few weeks ago is almost complete and is now listed on the Internet Movie Database….

Wonderful cast and crew, I can’t wait for you all to see this! We have a private screening in November, will tell you more then.

I had a dream….

Had a strange dream about crossing the border to some Eastern European country last night to do some reporting on something. With 2 other guys in a battered Fiat 126, me in the back.

At border control we were stopped by a guard with a gun, then he signaled over a large nun who checked if we had a copy of the bible with us, she wanted to see it to check the 10 commandments were in it. We had a bible written in Spanish under the dashboard, she thumbed through it and let us through.

WTF? Analyze that!

Lovely Canada Day gift!

I love the guy who delivers my post. He’s friendly, goes out of his way to leave packages with neighbours if it won’t go through the letterbox – and he brings me wonderful things.

This morning the bell rang and he had a brown paper package (not tied up with string). Oh the excitement!

Tim_cupIt was a lovely can of Tim Hortons coffee from my talented and gorgeous friend Angela Gasparetto. A true taste of Canada. Now if only had some cheese croissants and chocolate glazed donuts…..

Look Ma, I’m bloggin!

Doing a few updates to the website and decided to finally add a blog.

I’ve been doing a blog-like page for ages, What’s new Dave? But without heavy coding changes it didn’t have the blog features everyone expects.

Much of what is here will be similar to my Facebook stuff for those of you that are Friends. Anyone can follow my Facebook Group here

Expect to see information on upcoming Stage, TV and Film appearances, my take on the news of the day (or yesterday) and bits and pieces I stumble across and want to share.

So, let’s open shop and see what happens…..

Muchwhat’s new Dave? what’s new Dave?
