Welcome to the wonderful world of the Clan McClelland. I receive many e-mail messages asking about the family name and many McClelland’s wonder if we might be related. Well we may be, but it most likely goes back a long way.

As any proud McClelland knows, the family name is pretty ancient and originates from the MacLellan clan in bonnie Scotland… which traces it’s roots from various relationships to Saint Fhaolain, a high born son of St. Kentigerna and Ferdach, King of Dalriada in Ireland. There are many variations on the spelling too – anything from my own McClelland, to M’Kilikin, Makellane, M’lleolan and Gillephillane.

Now, I’m no historian, but I do have an interest in the family name and there are many resources available on the internet for anyone wanting to find out more.
