The hills, the lifestyle, and the trees &#8211; the green ribbon that brings the countryside into the city.<\/p>\n<p>But as many already know, Sheffield City Council, in partnership with Amey plc, are chopping down many of our street trees as part of a controversial 25-year PFI street improvement program.<\/p>\n<p>Ordinary people who campaign to save our trees are being hit with huge legal bills.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crowdfunder.co.uk\/stump-up-sheffield\/\"><strong>Defend the tree defenders. Stump up!<\/strong><\/a> is a Crowdfunder campaign to raise \u00a327,000 for two of those tree campaigners. I have supported Labour at every election since I was a lad.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve walked the streets. I&#8217;ve talked to voters.<br \/>\nBut I cannot honestly support a Labour Council that engages in this sort of behaviour against it&#8217;s citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Sheffield Councillors &#8211;\u00a0 Your time has come to do the right thing.<br \/>\nListen to the people of Sheffield and ditch this contract with Amey!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love Sheffield.
