Welcome to the wonderful world of the Clan McClelland. I receive many e-mail messages asking about the family name and many McClelland’s wonder if we might be related. Well we may be, but it most likely goes back a long way.<\/p>\n

As any proud McClelland knows, the family name is pretty ancient and originates from the MacLellan clan in bonnie Scotland… which traces it’s roots from various relationships to Saint Fhaolain, a high born son of St. Kentigerna and Ferdach, King of Dalriada in Ireland. There are many variations on the spelling too – anything from my own McClelland, to M’Kilikin, Makellane, M’lleolan and Gillephillane.<\/p>\n

Now, I’m no historian, but I do have an interest in the family name and there are many resources available on the internet for anyone wanting to find out more.<\/p>\n
